What is PrEP?
PrEP is an HIV prevention option that works by taking one pill daily. PrEP has been 92% effective in preventing HIV infection amongst those who take the medication regularly. PrEP is not intended as a one-time use medication.
How do I know PrEP is right for me?
Talking with our Mercy Care Decatur Street team is the best way to know if PrEP is right for you. PrEP is also recommended if the following apply to you:

- You have had anal or vaginal sex in the past 6 months and you
- have a sexual partner with HIV (especially if the partner has an unknown or detectable viral load),
- have not consistently used a condom, or
- have been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease in the past 6 months.
