Mercy Care Announces Beverly Kerr-Caesar as Annual McAuley Award Recipient for 2024
Mental Health Specialist Sr. Beverly Kerr-Caesar Receives Esteemed Accolade named for Sisters of Mercy Founder Catherine McAuley
Mercy Care, a federally qualified health center with four locations in Metro Atlanta and 274 employees, named Beverly Kerr-Caesar as the 2024 recipient of its McAuley Award for exhibiting the same qualities as Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy: compassion, integrity, willingness to work hard, mercy, and an unwavering commitment to those who are poor. The announcement was made during the organization’s holiday luncheon in late December.
Kerr-Caesar has worked as a mental health specialist/PATH case manager at Mercy Care since 2006. She moved to Atlanta that same year after earning her degree from Queens College in New York. Kerr-Caesar was stunned by the honor and humbled to have been selected for this year’s award. “My soul left my body for a minute, I’m so humbled and honored,” said Kerr-Caesar. “Of all Mercy Care’s core values, I believe commitment to serving the poor is the most important.”
Chief Mission Officer Sister Jane Gerety expressed support for Kerr-Caesar’s selection, “In her extended tenure at Mercy Care, Beverly has shown time and again the depth of her dedication to help her clients. Through her tireless efforts to provide holistic support to her clients and advocate for equitable access to resources, she exemplifies all of the core values represented by this award.”
Named for Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy, the McAuley Award was established in 2010 to highlight a Mercy Care employee who shows devotion to the mission of Mercy Care, especially in its care of the poor and vulnerable. The recipients also demonstrate in their work the core values of Mercy Care: stewardship, reverence, integrity, justice, compassion, and excellence. There have been 14 Mercy Care employees who have previously received this prestigious award.
