“We all go through things.”

In the spotlight.

Debbie Stevens, nurse practitioner at Gateway, was recognized by IF Gathering at their women’s conference in February. Debbie was selected as an example of an excellent female professional who uses her faith in the workplace. A film crew followed her around for a day to capture the clinic at the Gateway Center and interview some patients about their experience with Debbie.

“I came to Mercy Care when my life was spiraling out of control, and since Debbie came along life is a lot brighter,” Christy Lee, one of Debbie’s patients, reflected. “She’s really helped me to understand that we all go through things. It’s all about how you handle it.”

“I was emotionally unstable and needed medication management, so I came to Mercy Care,” another patient, Jessica Camilla, said. “Now I’m working at the longest job I’ve ever kept, and I don’t quit because I know how to handle my emotions on the job. I trust my doctor’s advice. Working with Debbie has given me real improvement.”

Conducting the interviews was Jamie Ivey, podcaster, author and public speaker. She collected Debbie’s reflections to be aired at the conference.

“To see these ladies really start putting their lives back together, that’s why I do what I do,” Debbie said. “Working with the homeless population has caused me to activate my faith even more, and I’m in an environment where I can actually pray with my patients.”

The video is still available online after its premiere at the conference for thousands of women worldwide. Watch to see a day in the life of Debbie Stevens at Gateway!
